Can Black People Get Hickeys? Yes, black people can get hickeys. But due to melanin, hickeys are less noticeable than someone with a lighter skin tone, but bruising can be seen on black skin. Hickeys in black people will appear brownish, dark red, or dark purple. If you don’t get closer, you may not notice.

Appearance, though, may be different in brown skin tone or mixed race.

While hickeys are common among teenagers, they are also common among adults too, especially among women.

Yet, the most asked question is; can black people get hickey? In this blog, I’ll attempt to answer your questions, including providing insight on how to get rid of or hide hickeys.

Picture this: you’ve got a hickey, a living, breathing (well, not really) testament to a wild night or maybe just an overly enthusiastic partner. But now you need to hide it. Maybe you’ve got a family gathering, a job interview, or you just don’t want to answer a million questions about your neck’s new accessory. Whatever the reason, let’s get into this hilarious guide on how to cover a hickey.

Step 1: Accept Your Fate or Hide it

First, look in the mirror, sigh, and accept your fate. Either you hide it with a scalf, turttleneck or you’re about to embark on a cosmetic odyssey. Remember, laughter is key here. Laugh at the situation. It’s just a hickey, not a tattoo of your ex’s name.

Step 2: Summon Your Inner Artist

Grab your Kimchi Chic The Most Concealer in green. Why green? Because it’s the color of magic, of nature, and apparently, of hickey concealment. It’s like your little pot of camouflage. In fact, the concealer isn’t actually green and choose what works for you.

Step 3: Apply the Most Concealer

Apply the concealer on your hickey. Yes, you’ll look like a part-time Shrek, but trust the process. The concealer neutralizes the red or purple tones of the hickey. It’s like color science for your neck!

Step 4: Patience is a Virtue

Let the green monster on your neck dry. Use this time to ponder life’s mysteries. Like, why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?

Step 5: Foundation Fiesta

Now, bring in the big guns – Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 330 Natural Tan. This stuff is like the Swiss Army knife of foundations. Matte, buildable, and it’s got more staying power than your aunt’s fruitcake.

Step 6: Layer Like You Mean It

Apply a layer of foundation over the green area. Let it dry. This isn’t a race; it’s more like painting the Sistine Chapel of your neck. Add another layer. Maybe make a sandwich while it dries. Repeat until your hickey is as invisible as your chances of explaining it away.

Step 7: Blend, Blend, Blend

Now blend like your social life depends on it. The goal is to make your neck look like it’s never even heard of a hickey. Seamless is the word.

Step 8: Set It and Forget It

Set your masterpiece with some powder. Or don’t. Live dangerously.

Step 9: The Mirror Test

Look at yourself in the mirror. Admire your handiwork. Take a moment. You’ve just covered a hickey with the skill of a Renaissance painter.

Step 10: Share the Wisdom

Go forth and share your newfound knowledge. Become the hickey-covering guru you were always meant to be.

And there you have it. You’ve turned a hickey into a hidden work of art. Remember, it’s all in good fun. And next time, maybe wear a scarf? Or don’t. Live your best life. 🎨🤣🧣

How to Give a Hickey like a pro [+ Video]

Step 1: Find Your Victim… I Mean, Volunteer

Scout for someone who’s game for a good laugh and a neck ‘tattoo.’ Preferably, choose someone who doesn’t have an important job interview the next day. You don’t want to be the reason they’re wearing a turtleneck in July.

Step 2: Set the Scene

Create the perfect ambiance for hickey-giving. Maybe light a candle that smells like something ridiculous, like ‘burnt popcorn’ or ‘wet dog.’ Romantic, right?

Step 3: The Art of Distraction

Start a conversation about something absurd. Discuss the existential crisis of garden gnomes or debate if a hotdog is a sandwich. Keep them laughing; it’s all part of the hickey charm.

Step 4: The Stealthy Approach

Now, while they’re distracted by your mind-blowing conversation, move in closer. You’re like a hickey ninja, smooth and unsuspecting.

Step 5: The Hickey Execution

Without warning, plant a kiss on their neck. It’s less of a kiss and more of a gentle, vacuum-sealed embrace with your lips. Remember, it’s a hickey, not a medical procedure. No need to be too intense.

Step 6: The Big Reveal

After you’ve ‘branded’ your friend, step back and admire your work. Watch their reaction as they discover their new neck accessory. It’s like a surprise party on their skin!

Step 7: Document the Masterpiece

Take a photo, but not just any photo. Make it epic. Perhaps pose like you’re an explorer who’s just discovered uncharted territory. This is for posterity, or at least for a good laugh on social media.

Step 8: The Apology… Maybe

Depending on how they take it, you might owe them an apology. Or a coffee. Or a new neck.

Step 9: Share the Laughter

Tell the story. Embellish it. Make it a legendary tale of the Great Hickey Adventure of 2023.

Step 10: Reflect on Your Life Choices

Finally, sit back and ponder your life decisions that led you to giving hickeys as a form of entertainment. Write a blog post about it, maybe?

And there you have it, the hilarious guide to giving a hickey, Darker-style. Remember, it’s all in good fun, and consent is key. Happy hickey-ing! 🤣👍

How Can I Get Rid of a Hickey?

How to get rid of a hickey step one: Don’t get a hickey!

If you can’t follow this simple rule, read on.

Can Black People Get Hickeys 2

You can’t get rid of hickeys as early as posible because unless someone tells you that you have one, you propably didn’t realise it, but you can speed up the healing process.

A lot of people believe you can whisk your hickey away if you’re super conscious and find it quicker. And there are proof that it works if yo do it as soon as possible.

To reduce swelling and reduce bleeding, put an ice pack on it for the first one to two days after the mark appears. Slow blood flow to the area by wrapping the ice pack in a towel and holding it to your skin for 15 minutes at a time, several times a day.

After the second day, you can switch to a warm compress. Applying heat to the hickey will cause blood flow to increase, which at this point can help reduce the mark. Though, if it’s before 48 hours, don’t do a warm compress; it could make the hickey bigger if you do it early on when the blood vessels are still healing.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to doing warm compresses:

  1. Fill a microwavable bowl with water, and heat it in the microwave until it’s warm enough that you can just barely stand to keep a finger dipped in it. It should be warmer than bathwater, but nowhere near-boiling.
  2. Soak two clean washcloths in the bowl of water, then grab one and wring it out. Apply it to your hickey, letting it sit until the washcloth has come back down to room temperature. Then, return that washcloth to the bowl of water and wring out the other one, repeating the process with the second washcloth.
  3. Repeat the process three or four times, for a total of 15 to 20 minutes. You may have to reheat the bowl of water between applications as it cools.

Another technique is to apply aloe vera and vitamin E to the affected area as soon as you notice it. This will help the broken capillaries heal more quickly, as well.

Research suggests that vitamin C can help blood clots, which helps reduce the amount of bruising. Though vitamin K may help fade bruises, apply it topically instead of taking it orally, as the oral form is associated with more potential risks.

You can also apply cocoa butter daily to speed up the healing process.

Other than applying heat or ice, try to leave the hickey alone. Don’t touch it. Don’t scrape, overly massage, or otherwise nudge and poke at your hickey, which at the very least will just irritate the spot further and increase the hickey’s lifetime, but can also be seriously damaging, and even lead to scarring.

Hickeys Explained

Can Black People Get Hickeys

A hickey is a dark red or purple mark on your skin caused by intense sucking or kissing. A hickey could appear on any part of the body but is most common around soft and sensitive skin like the neck, breasts, and chest. The neck is a common site for hickeys because of its easy access.

Like other bruises, it should fade in about one to two weeks.

How do hickeys form?

During a make-out, your partner may suck on and bite your skin. The pressure breaks little blood vessels under the surface. Those broken vessels release tiny spots of blood called petechiae.

A collection of these blood spots forms a larger dark spot, which is a bruise. The bruise may change color over time from dark red or dark purple to yellow or brown, depending on skin color.

When you’re new to kissing and still fine-tuning the perfect neck kiss, you’re more likely to be a little aggressive with your mouth, which is why hickeys tend to show up more on younger or newer kissers.

With substantial practice and the right partners, your kissing will probably ease into a less hickey-centric mode, but if you’re someone who appreciates a good necking, the occasional love bite can show up at any age.

Are hickeys more common in women than in men?

Yes. Hickeys are more common in women than in men, as men tend to give them. Sometimes, men give hickeys to women, intentionally, so other men will stay away from their women. They send a subtle message to show a woman is sexually active. He wants to be sure other men keep their distance from you; no man wants to share the woman they love.

But mostly, hickeys happen among teenagers.

Can Black People Get Hickeys 3

When you have a hickey on your neck, people tend to ask how it got there. You can always cover it. Options include:

1. Scarf

This may be the most versatile option. A scarf is the most common accessory to use to hide your hickey. Just make sure you’re wearing it during the right season and that if you’re indoors, you don’t look weird when you keep your scarf on. And you may want to avoid wearing a scarf if you never wear one.

2. Bandage

Choose one large enough to cover the hickey, and make a story to tell in case you are queried.

3. Turtleneck or collared shirt

This works in cooler weather. A turtleneck will do wonders for hiding a hickey, and you can even find a sleeveless version for warmer months. A collared shirt will, however, work in all weather.

4. Makeup

If the weather is too warm to wear layers, you can cover up your hickey with makeup instead. Use a makeup brush to apply a thin layer of yellow correcting concealer over the purple areas of the hickey.

Choose your makeup tone based on the colour of the hickey. A yellow tone will conceal purple bruises, while a green tone hides redness.

You can also apply a concealer that matches your skin tone. You can explore these Kimchi chic most concealer on Amazon.

How to hide a hickey without makeup for guys

  1. Wear a turtleneck sweater.
  2. Wear a long-sleeved collared shirt.
  3. A jacket or a sweater with a collar that covers your neck is also ideal.
  4. Don’t wear a turtleneck in the middle of the summer.
  5. Wear a top that draws attention away from your neck.

How to Avoid a Hickey

Good communication may be the most effective way to prevent a hickey.

  • Suggest another spot if you find your partner spending too much time in one area.
  • Ask your partner to be gentler.

Are hickeys dangerous?

A hickey shouldn’t cause any real problems, but see a doctor if:

  • The hickey doesn’t go away after a couple of weeks.
  • The bruise is very sore.
  • You may notice other bruises on your body, especially if you don’t know how you got them.
  • There’s a lump over the bruise.

These symptoms could be a sign of a medical condition like a blood disease or clotting disorder.

It’s not very likely, but a handful of serious injuries have happened after hickeys.

A woman from New Zealand received a hickey and was left half paralyzed. A clot in their brain was discovered by emergency department doctors, who treated them for a stroke. A 35-year-old woman in Denmark suffered a stroke 12 hours after getting a hickey, leaving her weak on her right side.

What are the chances that a hickey will result in a stroke? It requires a unique set of circumstances. The carotid artery is a significant blood vessel that runs down both sides of your neck. The blood supply to your brain, face, and neck is provided by this artery. Putting a lot of pressure on the carotid artery might theoretically cause a clot to develop or shake loose an existing clot.

This sequence of events is highly improbable. The women in New Zealand and Denmark may have experienced artery abnormalities early in life, putting them at a higher risk of stroke.

To be safe, avoid giving or receiving a hickey too close to the carotid artery. That’s the area just to the side of your chin at the top of your neck.
